A long time ago (in the late 60's) my Grandmother Elizabeth was visiting our farm at White Hall in Richmond, Kentucky. What a beautiful place that was!
A beautiful old 2 story home with 2 staircases inside sitting in between numerous maple trees. We had two barns for horses on 33 acres also. We had just moved in but Dad wanted to plant our garden so we would have veggies all summer.
That was when I first heard of the "other seasons" we have here in Kentucky. She said we had 4 extra winters before summer would be here. I'm not quite sure of the order but I think they are: Redbud Winter, Dogwood Winter, Locust Winter and Blackberry Winter.
Somehow winter shows up each time as each one blooms and hopefully it doesn't get cold enough to freeze. If we are lucky this year everything with the spring weather will be perfect and all the new buds will not freeze and die!!!

Hey Lizette, I hope your right, I am ready for spring. I am also enjoying here in Indy our flowers starting to come up. Our Tulips are popping up. We are happy as we transplanted them from my wife's Grandmothers farm in Michigan. I love the seasons changing, and never knew Kentucky had so many winters as you have explained. I will have to bookmark your post to keep it handy and see if we are experiencing the same here. LOL You take care, and, its great to see your posts out here. Keep them coming.
Bob...I'm soooo excited!! All the peach trees bloomed today! That might mean it is time for the next winter to arrive. I think it will be Redbud winter. It's so nice today and I have all the windows open!
Hey Lizette, our windows are open today too. Yeah, its coming its coming, I am ready. Post some more good stuff will ya? Take care.
OK, Bob I got motivated again last night and blogged. Hope you like it! Nice to hear from you!
