WWLTV has announced today that Globalstar a satellite communications company will relocate it's corporate headquarters from California to Covington Louisiana this year. Covington is located about 20 miles west of Slidell and Pearl River.

Kudos to Bobby Jindal Governor of Louisiana and Kevin Davis President of St. Tammany Parish for their leadership in this endeavor. Kudos also to the countless others whose names we will never know. Their will be approximately 50 full time high paying positions in the first 30 days. Growing to 150 by the end of the year and over 500 in the next few years.

What employees relocating from California won't miss are the price of homes and the considerably lower taxes in Louisiana. They will miss the weather and low humidity, especially in the summer. They won't miss the traffic congestion either for that matter. I also think they will love the friendly neighbors they will soon meet. Let me be the first to say welcome to Louisiana.
