Margaret Place Historical District

Many think that Margaret Place Historical District simply amplifies the name of "Margaret Place," a subdivision recorded in 1912.  Since Margaret Place is the largest portion of the district, the district name makes sense. 

But, to clarify, please know that there are actually 3 recorded subdivisions within the district.

• According to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury (CPPJ) interactive map, Margaret Place of Perkins Grove is the formal name for what is generally considered the oldest recorded subdivision in Calcasieu Parish.
• Margaret Manor Block C of Margaret Place is referenced as a separate subdivision according to the CPPJ site.
• The 3rd formal subdivision is the McCain Subdivision which is generally on the northeast side of Park Avenue.

Regardless, those of us lucky enough to live in what is generally considered the oldest recorded subdivision in Calcasieu Parish, cherish the history and charm that comes with life in the Margaret Place Historical District.
