Pressure Washing Your House Improves Its Appearance Like a Magic Eraser!

Pressure Washing Your House Improves Its Appearance

Our home is built with "treated" cypress wood posts and beams. Over the last year we noticed that the front post didn't quite look right anymore.....it was turning black!

We were not sure what to do and my first thought was the wood just needed to be stained. Always one to consult with a professional, I obtained the opinion of a painter. The painter came by and told me it was a simple solution, we just needed to pressure wash the exterior wood with a "house wash" product. We obtained a concentrate product that is mixed with 2 cups of household bleach added to 2 gallons of water in a pump sprayer.

Being a worrier by nature, I was concerned with the landscaping the in the front flower beds and wanted to protect them from the concentrate mixed with bleach. I covered my plants with a drop cloth as mentioned by this painter who also has some helpful advice about protecting your plants when you pressure wash.

We sprayed the house wash mixture on first and then pressure washed with plain water. As I watched my husband pressure washing the Cypress Post it was like using one of those Magic Eraser Sponges that makes dirt disapper it was amazing!

Look at the before and after pictures of the beam above my front window!

Happy with the results we turned our attention to the back porch.
