Christmas Caroling: Sharing the Sounds of Christmas: December’s Season of Celebrations & Sharing

Christmas Caroling With

The Jr. League Liberty Belles

 Guardians Christmas Tree

As a sustaining member of the Junior League of Lake Charles I have been a part of many projects that enrich the Lake Charles community and the lives of residents in our community.

In 1976 the Jr. League of Lake Charles  formed a choral group called  the "Liberty Belles"  Over the years The Liberty Belles have appeared in many programs and this choral group was eventually retired.  However, several sustaining members resurrected The Liberty Belles group and decided to volunteer on their own time!

I am proud to be a part of the Liberty Belles sustainer group  which consists of giving and sharing  women who take time to share their  musical talent blessing the residents of Lake Charles Nursing Homes.

Four times a year, The Liberty Belles troupe to Lake Charles Nursing Homes and Assisted Living facilities with a choral performance. We change up the song list and Christmas is always a special program of loved carols and traditional Christmas tunes.   This volunteerism is an act of sharing the Christmas season of love with others.

Many residents of Nursing Homes or Assisted Living residences are lonely and don't have regular visits from family or friends.  A kind word, holding a hand and a smile go a long way with these residents.  While we are performing our rendition of Christmas carols you can see the faces of the residents light up with Christmas cheer and several residents will sing along with us!

This week "we donned our gay apparal"  of red, and green Christmas attire and took the show on the road!

We always speak to each resident and wish them a Merry Christmas at the end of our performance!!

This is one volunteer event that I look forward to and arrange my schedule to be able to attend practices and performances.  I also think we sound pretty good too!
