Governor Bobby Jindal had to love his trip to Lake Charles on Tuesday! He was here to help officially announce that a $100 million manufacturing plant will soon be built in Lake Charles.
The facility, to be located on Port property off Big Lake Road not far from Trunkline LNG, will be the first nuclear-module manufacturing facility in the United States! A few bullet points:
Deep-water access, transportation, and availability of a skilled work force were a few of the reasons Lake Charles was selected. Of course, the state's competitive incentive package played a major role in what is expected to generate $43 million in tax revenue alone in the coming decade.
From the Chamber Southwest to the State Department of Economic development, congratulations and thanks to all involved.

Derenda, what great news!!! I'm surprised my Uncle and Brother hadn't already told me about it!!! This will be a real boost to th economy of Lake Charles and Louisiana!!!
Hey Judi,
Things are jumping over here. When are you going to pack up and come join in on the fun? I do not think you will recognize this place in 5 to 10 years the growth will be so unbelivable. It is going to be an exciting place to live and work.
Derenda, I know!! Don doesn't want to move back until he retires. Which is 8 years or so? Of course, I won't retire until I have to!!! :) If/when we move back to Lake Charles I'll get my Louisiana Real Estate License...been thinking about going ahead and getting it now and just keep it inactive (if that's possible in LA).
Hi Judi,
Sure you can get your LA License and keep it inactive. You just pay the reduced fees and maintain your continuing education classes every year. The continuing ed classes can be taken via the internet now, so that is even easier than before. You would have it made.
I've been thinking about doing just that. I have to do some research. Can I use my courses/credits here in TX towards my LA license (except for the LA R.E. Law Class)?
I do not think so. I think they have to be the LA Classes, but I will check into this for you and find out. I know who to ask. I'll let you know. I know they have reciprocity in some areas with Texas.
Thank you for doing that for me. I've been thinking about getting my LA RE License for a month or so.
Hey Judi,
Everyone is leaving town at this point. I will check on this for you ASAP upon our return. Have a great weekend.
Derenda,
Don't worry about the info...just get out of town. Stay safe and stay in touch. Talking to my brother in Grand Lake now, telling him to get the cars packed up and head this way.
