The ultimate recognition by the Calcasieu Historical Preservation Society...The "Landmark Award!"

Calcasieu Historical Preservation SocietyThe most prestigious award offered by the Calcasieu Parish Historical Preservation Society is the Landmark Award.

The Landmark Award is a decorative wooden plaque that can be seen on numerous homes and buildings throughout Southwest Louisiana. They are usually attached to the front of a structure.

The Landmark Award recognizes owners who have restored a historic structure as near as possible to its original look.

Throughout the Lake Area and Southwest Louisiana, we are blessed with many architectural styles and beautiful homes worth preserving. Architectrual style examples include:

  • Queen Anne Revival
  • Eastlake
  • Colonial Revival
  • Bungalow
  • 20th Century Eclectic

The time frame for the Landmark Award is similar to the CALCA Commendation, presented in an earlier post.

A master list of those who have received the Landmark Award is maintained on the Preservation Society's website, Calcasieu Preservation.org.
