This has been a crazy year in real estate world. Deals that were "sure things" died flaming deaths while a few of those "not in a million year" transactions closed. Coming from an education background, I try (mostly in vain) to explain why said transactions closed or died. After all, in science the next step beyond explanation is prediction. If I could find a pattern or two, surely my closing ration would improve, right?
Nope. Han Solo was right when he said luck played a greater role in the universe than the force. With the benefit of hindsight, it would appear luck did play a large role in my real estate year.
Drawing the right appraiser (or wrong one), answering the phone late one evening when I normally would have let it go to voice mail (lead to a sweet sale), Having a buyer open the Real Estate Book directly to my ad. With the exception of answering late night calls, none of the other events can be coached for improvement in 2012.
But perhaps I can do things to make lady luck wink at me on occasion in 2012. Do things consistently, follow the rules, be aggressive, treat customers like clients. Oh, and keep that four leave clover in the pocket at all times. Hope you find so luck in 2012!
