As my client closed yesterday afternoon on a nice home in one of the best subdivisions in Slidell along with the highest rated school district in Slidell a sudden thought overcame me.
This is a really nice home that the owner had passed and the heirs wanted to sell. We were able to beat them up quite a bit on the final selling price. The home next door was also for sale at a much higher price. My client closed at $71 per square foot and next door was asking $94 a square foot.
This is what I am calling the great Housing Schism! It seems with everybody looking for deals only short sales, foreclosures or bequethed property or moving. A traditional hands on seller unless he wants to move bad enough doesn't have a chance.
My buyers won't even look at anything unless it starts under $ 150. I am sure glad I am not selling my own personal home in this economical climate.
