Senate Passes Bill to End Aotumatic Pay Raises

The following is a line from an email I received today from Senator David Vitter R- Louisiana concerning the automatic pay raises for our elected government. Wouldn't we all like to vote on an automatic pay raise for each and every one of us?

The U.S. Senate has finally passed a bill to end automatic pay raises for members of Congress, and I've sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urging her to schedule prompt consideration of this important bill.

Now it is up to us to keep pressure on these turkeys. I will say it until I die. Term limits on all of them. It seems every local district blames the other states districts for the problems. I blame them all.

AMEN!!!!  It is way past time to take away their golden parachutes.  We need to make them pay into Social Security also.

ToulaRosebrock.comHi John:

This should be done across the country!

Hi John, So true, we must all remain viligent in speaking our minds. Automatic pay raises -must be stopped. I agree.

I heard a Representative say that if a member of Congress has an issue with the pay raise then they should give it back. I say, why have automatic pay raises in the first place.

By the way, I believe the Representative that said that has been in office for over 20 years. It's way passed the time for term limits!

John, only the threat of riots in the street will get those people to listen to us.  Fortunately in this case they did.  I can understand why one would want to run for congress.  Retirement for life after only one term, healthcare for life (which none of us can get) after only one term in office, triple digit salary, pocket money courtesy of the lobbyists.

GOOD!  All perks should disappear.  Only the people who really want to serve will want to do it.  They should have benefits ONLY as good as our military gets.

Hi John, the ole pork barrel runneth over!  I would like to see term limits myself...we certainly do not have a brain trust to lose!
