Today's Boston Herald cited a dozen communities which have actually seen a rise in both sales as well as prices of homes despite other communities continued slump during the downturn. Franklin, MA shows both an 8.4% increase in sales and median price from one year ago.
John Ford, blogger, in his Boston Real Estate Blog notes his astonishment that Franklin, MA has bucked the housing slump trend stating "considering how far out it is". I feel compelled to explain that the fine suburb of Franklin, Massachusetts is still located in Greater Boston. From a travel standpoint, it is a mere 45 commuter rail ride and a 40 minute car ride with no traffic into downtown Boston.
Let's face it--a suburb like Franklin offers the best of both worlds...
An easy commute by commuter rail or highway to downtown Boston for work, theater, museums... A safe quiet town with good schools, low taxes and reasonably priced homes...One and one-half hours to the Atlantic ocean beaches...Neighborhoods and beautiful scenic country roads...
