Medway: Neighborhood Buzz

Autumn leaves are swirling and a cold breeze is definitely in the air. Perhaps the cooler weather is encouraging Medway residents to get some late season activities done before winter sets in. All sorts of wonderful home improvement projects are happening around Medway.

Village Street alone is a hot bed of activity

There's been a recent surge in activity on the building next to St. Joe's. They are actively fixing it up now. I'm glad to see this before another tough winter takes it's toll on the building.

The condo / commercial building across the street from town hall has been getting a facelift. I don't like the fact that they stripped the architectural detail from the front corners but I am happy that the new clapboards they are putting up are in keeping with the historical character of the Medway Village Historic District which it is a part of. The contractors appear to be doing a very nice job. Burning question is what color will they paint it when they are done?

Speaking of color - further on down Village Street a Victorian home has had a complete transformation. Just a few days ago the home was completely white (which it has been for a long while). I was stunned to see a more traditional and colorful Victorian color palette added to it over the weekend. The new colors? Green and dark raspberry. Yes that is green and purple. Amazingly it looks absolutely gorgeous. They are not quite finished painting but the job will soon be complete.

Another block or so down the road is the home that I believe was listed as a "Sears House" the last time it was sold. I'll have to double check that. Anyway, the owners have been doing a terrific job fixing up the exterior with a wonderful paint scheme. Now they are finishing off with a front porch. It's going to be really lovely when it's all done.

And in other parts of town

I can't restrict this flurry of home owner activity to just Village Street. At the corner of Lovering Street and Winthrop a tremendous transformation has been going on. Clapboard siding is being added all around and a really nice paint job added on top of that. I believe the new exterior color is a dark blue. Just beautiful.

Clearly Medway home owners are taking a lot of pride in their homes. They are doing a great service to the town of Medway by adding to the charm and character of the town.

Keep up the good work Medway!
