It was a treat to see the flashing light of the lighthouse in the fog; and I couldn't help thinking what a welcoming sight that must have been for sailors.

Great picture Jennifer.A bit like in a dream. Lightouses are fascinating. There is something eerie about them like in a film noir. I am sure the sailors could smile when they saw this one.
LLoyd it was really cool. To sailors a very welcoming site and would surely bring a smile to their faces.
ooooo I love that picture Jennifer! It helped out many....I believe many used it as a guide light too.
I love it!
You are lucky to have such sights
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
That's a very nice looking lighthouse too! I'm fond of bridges and lighthouses as photographic subjects.
I love lighthouses... and seeing this picture of the light house in the fog reminds me of the fog horns in San Francisco Bay! Magical.
Jennifer, thanks for sharing this lighthouse photo. I, too, love lighthouses their pictures and their history and learning about the keepers of the light. I actually grew up with the Fuller Light in East Providence, RI
Cool shot Jennifer. I have never wanted to venture East, but just because of your blog post, I want to go....
Jennifer you were lucky to catch this. I would imagine that you not get to see the lighthouse working on too many occasions.
Jennifer, I love lighthouses! I am so lucky to have so many here on Long Island and try to visit when I can. The picture is lovely (and it certainly was foggy!)
Jennifer,
Great picture. I seen lighthouses at night but not sure if I've seen one like this. :)

I thought people lived in the lighthouses. What's that house doing there??
Jennifer, that's a very cool light house picture. Where is it taken at?
I like light house pictures too! Thank you for sharing this great photo.
Super nice! Love the mist! Is this near your home?

Hi Jennifer... what a GREAT shot to capture. The symbolism of lighthouses and what they represent at a fundamental level always inspires me.
