Calling all my Massachusetts Realtor Friends---Is this a good time for my Wife to enter the Business?

Tomorrow is my 25th Wedding Anniversary. My wife, Joanne, and I have shared 25 wonderful years together, and unlike Al and the Tipster, we are closer now than we have ever been. For those of you who have been happily married for a long time, however, you know that when your spouse is hurting, you hurt more.

My wife's main problem is the profession she has been trained in, that of a legal secretary, is on the endangered species list. My wife worked for a downtown Boston firm for almost ten years, and then in December of 2008, without even a small warning, she was laid off. Between that date and today, she has sought permanent employment as a legal secretary, and she has found nothing that is suitable.

Lately, without any urging from me, she has started to consider changing careers and becoming a real estate salesperson. Real estate has always been a passion of hers, and I think she would be good at the job. The question I have is whether now is the time to enter the profession. I would like to hear the thoughts of those of you whom I have gotten to know through ActiveRain. The straight story; at least the way you see it. I would like to give her the right advice.

My wife is bright, a hard worker and the kind of person people like to be around. She is the person who stays until the job is done, and she is a loyal friend. These qualities would seem to make her a good candidate for a real estate salesperson. Do you agree? What else should I be telling her about your craft? Thanks to any of you who comment. It merans a lot to me.
