I remember my days as a Corporate General Counsel at a Regional Mortgage Company. We has a program which we called our "kitchen to Kitchen" loan program. The loan originator took the application in the Borrower's kitchen; I went to the Borrower's home and close the refinance transaction in the very same kitchen.
This all came back to me the other day when I was closing a 2010 Vintage refinancing in a Borrower's kitchen. Things in the area of the home where the most business done have not changed much, it is still the kitchen. Family meetings are often held in the kitchen. When a friend or neighbor stops by for a cup of coffee or tea, many times the kitchen is the place where drinks for friends are served.
I am wondering how many of you have had the same experience, when taking a listing or signing an Offer. The kitchen seems to be the place where it all happens. Perhaps, it is a function of the American fetish with food. Perhaps, the kitchen gives off informal and welcoming vibes which you cannot seem to achieve in the dining room or the living room. Perhaps, I am totally wrong in my assessments.
In any event, if any of you are good enough to visit me in my comfy condominium in Milton, Massachusetts, don't feelinsulted if we break break or have a cupof coffer in our kitchen. It happens to be, by far, the room where we spend most of our time.
