The late comedian, George Carlin had a famous routine about stuff. One of his lines was, "A house is just a pile stuff with a cover on it."
Some people take this a bit too literally, particularly those with a fondness for collecting. I have seen some collections in homes that are really in danger of taking over the place.
What are some of the things that people collect?
You get the idea.
Some of these collections can be the basis for a fun and interesting hobby. And, better yet, they may even have a monetary value. But they all have one thing in common - a feeling of clutter.
When a potential buyer is looking at your home you don't really want them to be distracted with collections, of any kind. And, unless they are neatly and securely locked in a display case, I would also be concerned about someone liking one of these items a little too much.
If you are in the process of preparing your home for sale and have a collection you value, you may want to consider storing it with a friend for awhile.
At least until you have a new home and a more permanent place for all of your "stuff."
