What I love about the internet is it's ability to affect people's lives instantly. News on demand. Facts for homework. Weather in Bali. It's all here. We are learning and growing very quickly together as a global community. It gives everyone their own soapbox. You can choose to share or not share your life with others. And if you have a cause you believe in strongly, you can reach literally thousands of people all over the world with one post. Sometimes, that little post with your simple idea can start to grow and grow. The true meaning of a grass roots effort.
I recently discovered a truly special grass roots effort. It is an organization called JobAngels. What a great concept. Helping people find jobs. How timely and hopefully effective during these difficult economic times. It started in true grass roots form. One person, one idea - "Can't we help people find jobs, one person at a time?". Here is the full story about how it all began, and how overwhelming the response has been. A group of HR executives have started something extraordinary. They are utilizing their expertise in assisting Americans to get back on their feet and regain their dignity. The usual social networking sites are on board: Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn have already had thousands of employers reaching out to hire workers. I would love to see this effort succeed. Americans helping Americans.
I invite you to share this story to anyone you know who is facing the loss of a job OR to a potential employer. Let's make it work in our neighborhood. Spread the word to another's community. As Obama just stated in his address to the nation: "This country needs and values the talents of every American."
