After watching the mayhem of Black Friday on the news, I vowed to Shop Local for all of the gifts I plan to give this season and beyond. 

There was an interview with someone from American Express who stated that if you shop local, it will improve your real estate value. The light went on in my head! This makes total sense. Shop Local and Improve your Real Estate Value.

As a Realtor and home owner on Cape Cod, there is nothing more financially important to me than having a healthy real estate market. This is the same for everyone who owns property. Spend your money locally and it will stay local and improve the economics.

There are towns and villages across Cape Cod, where it is evident that there is a healthy retail and commercial base. Property values near the main streets of Chatham, Provincetown, Sandwich and others are able to hold up substantially better than other areas against the national economic downturn. 

There are plenty of great restaurants, boutiques, jewelers, artists, artisans and more across Cape Cod and in most every community that could use more local dollars.

Do yourself and your community a major favor, shop local. You will be rewarded many times over.
