Getting to know the Town of Southwick, Ma.

 Thinking about relocating to Southwick, Ma? The Town of Southwick is a rapidly growing residential and agricultural community located on the southern border of Western Massachusettsand bordered by Granville, Agawam, Westfield and Connecticut.

The Southwick-Tolland Regional High School, Powder Mill Middle School and Woodland Elementary School share a campus setting on Feeding Hills Road (Route 57) in Southwick, Massachusetts. The town library is also conveniently located on the campus. What is fantastic about Southwick is that all the school boarder the park so no matter if you have a child in Middle school and High school, you can see both games at the same time without having to leave either child's game. It may not seem like much, but when you have to run back and forth to see your children's sports games, it makes for a much easier situation for the whole family. The staff, programs and facilities of the Southwick-Tolland Regional School System together provide an environment to encourage maximum growth in individual scholarship and character development.

Woodland Elementary~

Woodland is one of the largest elementary schools in Western Massachusetts. The current enrollment is approximately 715 students in preschool through fourth grade, with an average class size of 23. Having a smaller ratio allows for more undivided attention for the students. Academic support is provided through Title 1, Special Education, Reading Recovery, Literacy Group and KEY, a school-wide enrichment program. They have adopted a comprehensive approach to literacy throughout our school that includes Reader's Workshop, Writer's Workshop, and Word Study.

Southwick-Tolland Regional High School~

Southwick-Tolland Regional High School, a four year high school, services 600 students by offering a varied educational program designed to meet their present and future needs and aspirations.

Throughout the curriculum and in all co-curricular activities, Southwick-Tolland Regional High School endeavors to create a positive, productive atmosphere of mutual respect for learning that promotes self-esteem, concern for others, cognitive achievement, and mastery of decision-making skills requiring healthy, secure, and challenging atmosphere in which the intellectual, physical, and creative potential of each individual can develop.

To bring about this growth experience, the school relies primarily upon its diversified and experienced faculty which utilized the best of traditional learning techniques and the most recent methodologies and research to facilitate the development of each student.

The school envisions itself a nurturing and challenging community which prepares students not only to assume the responsibility of citizenship and leadership but also to recognize and assess critically the values and directions of their world as they enter the global society of the twenty-first century

Getting to know Southwick's public Library~

 Southwick Public Librarypersonnel consist of a full-time Director/Librarian, a full-time Assistant Director/Librarian, and eight part-time librarians including Reference, Children and Circulation experts. Southwick Public Library is open to Massachusetts and Connecticut residents. It boasts 12,000 sq. feet and houses an Adult Library, a Children's Library, a Community Room, Restrooms and a Staff Room. Adult and Children's, including YA (young adult) programs are offered on a regular basis. The Summer Reading Program routinely involves over 400 area children and provides summertime activities around a central theme.
