Relocating to Springfield, Ma? Know your school information to register!

If you will be relocating to Springfield, Ma and have school age children, you will need to know vital information for registration and to know what school district to sign up your children. TO THE PARENT INFORMATION CENTER

The Parent Information Center (PIC) is located at 22 Mulberry Street (on the lower level of the Milton Bradley School). The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. The PIC is closed on all other school & state Holidays.

SPRINGFIELD'S MISSION

The mission of the Parent Information Center is to assist ALL stakeholders in accessing the educational services of the Springfield Public Schools and other community resources. We strive to maximize the quality and the delivery of the support system for student and adult learning.

This mission is accomplished through the many functions of the Parent Information Center.

· Student registration, school assignments and transfers

· Language assessment (for non-native English speakers)

· Special Education comparative placements

· On site health services

· Dissemination of information regarding policies, procedures and programs of the Springfield Public Schools

• Community collaboration and outreach services

Does my child get bus transportation?

· Transportation is provided for students in Kindergarten-Grade 5 if they live more than 1 ½ miles from their assigned school.

• Transportation is provided for students in Grades 6-12 if they live more than 2 miles from their assigned school.

Parents/guardians should call their assigned school after August 21st for bus stop locations and times. Additional information may become available on the Springfield cable television system during late August.

What about before and after school childcare programs?
Programs vary throughout the school system. Contact your child's assigned school for specific information. Additionally, The Preschool Enrichment Team is a community resource that can assist you in locating appropriate childcare programs for children up to twelve years old. They may be contacted at 736-3900.

What should I do if I change my address?
Parents/guardians should go to the Parent Information Center at 22 Mulberry Street to verify your new address. Please bring proof of your new address - Proof of Residency
