Altavesta School Balloon Event: As the students arrive at school there is something happening on the field that promises that this won't be just another school day. A few minutes later as the kids stand on that same field they are treated to a live demonstration of the steps balloon pilot, Chris Mooney, takes to make sure that Big Max, the RE/MAX hot air balloon, is inflated and ready to fly. Although they won't be in the basket today, the kids are able to see how the burner heats the air causing the balloon to rise.
As part of the RE/MAX Challenge the Wind Program, RE/MAX Leading Edge has recently brought the program to the Dallin School in Arlington and the Altavesta School in Woburn.

"The kids impressed me with their questions, they were right on", remarked Chris.
Tara Rossi, Dallin School Principal, noted, "The Big Max/Challenge the Wind Event was a fun and exciting way for students to see science in action! Additionally, it brought grades K through 5 together for a wonderful community building activity that each age could enjoy. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders had the opportunity to ask both Chris and Jeff questions regarding the balloon and how it works. The students were highly engaged during the Q and A and learned how the balloon works, how it travels, how high it flies, what it weighs, and much more! Students were talking about it all day!"
If the kids decide they want to ride in the balloon or you would like to have the balloon at your event, call Anthony Giglio for a current balloon schedule. Big Max flies at many local events and has raised well over $100,000 for local charities. (compliments of RE/MAX Leading Edge Blog)
