Another Win for Education in Maryland - U.S. Naval Academy

The U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis Named #1 Most Popular Liberal Arts College in America.

USNA Midshipmen walking on campus - istockphoto.comWithin the past few weeks, Maryland public schools were ranked #1 in the nation for the 3rd year in a row by Education Week, the College Boards, and Newsweek Magazine and five Maryland public higher ed institutions made the top 100 of Kiplinger's Best Values in Public Education, including the University of Maryland, College Park at #5.

And now U.S. News & World Report has selected the U.S. NAVAL ACADEMY as the Most Popular Liberal Arts College in the Nation, based on the percentage of accepted applicants who end up actually enrolling in the fall. While some would argue that the USNA is more of an engineering school - and engineering programs ARE, indeed, a huge part of their curriculum - the USNA was compared against other schools nationwide which emphasize undergraduate education and award at least 50 percent of their degrees in the liberal arts.

Other rankings released by U.S. News & World Reports this week included the 20 Most Popular National Universities (Harvard), including Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore at #13, and the 20 Best Colleges Engineering Programs (Massachusetts Institute of Technology/MIT), including the University of Maryland, College Park at #57.

Can it get any better?

Congratulations, to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis for your #1 ranking in the list of Most Popular Liberal Arts Colleges in America.
