Why Do You Have Caleb In Your Pants?

Flat Caleb in the PantsWhy Do You Have Caleb In Your Pants?

That was the question Deborah Aiken asked as we entered her Daiken Design booth to view her hand made glass jewelry and accessories.

It was one of many times that I explained Flat Caleb as a take off on Flat Stanley.

As Colleen told us in her post, Flat Stanley is a popular children's book about the adventures of a boy who is flattened accidentally. A Canadian schTool teacher, Dale Hubert, began the Flat Stanley Project and 1995, and now there are several versions of Stanley around the world, including our own Active Rain Flat Stanley Project. In typical Active Rain style, Colleen wasn't content with one Flat Dude, but created five Flats and sent them out to experience our worlds. Caleb arrived for his visit in Baltimore having survived - barely! - Hawaii and Florida.

Thanks Nick for sending Caleb even though not first class!

After a night of tender care and rest from his long and difficult journey, Caleb set out on his first Baltimore adventure. He really had fun and got lots and lots of attention. I shared the day with my dear friend Peg who went with me and Caleb to the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, MD.

As two very busy professionals, we plan ahead to meet at least once or twice a month. This time we made a special exception by allowing Caleb in our special outing.

Crafts people from all over the country come to Maryland for these shows in the spring and fall, all held in the "Cow Palace" at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

We found out quickly that Caleb was a great conversation starter, though he didn't actually say much, even though several people pointed out that he was hitching a ride in my waistband. Mostly he explored the various displays. With his snorkel and fins, he felt right at home with the watery waves on Aiken's glass plate. Clyde Daugherty's birdhouse seemed a bit odd, but he soon felt the view from the top was worth the climb.

After that, he needed a break and settled down for a rest and a snack with a lollypop and a cooperative bear.Caleb purple glassCaleb BirdhouseCaleb, bear, lollypop

All in all, it was a beautiful day and a great start to Caleb's Baltimore adventure. Watch for more Flat Caleb adventures in Baltimore.

Flat Caleb Arrived in Baltimore

Posted Sunday Apr 29

Flat Caleb has been a wonderful and appreciative guest...and not one complaint so far!

Flat Caleb Arrived in Baltimore  was a "no pointer" blog that still got a bunch of comments.

Hi, Margaret!  You had me laughing from your title alone!!!  Flat Caleb is getting a little fresh, huh?  ;o)

Flat James is on his way here, I can't wait to show him around WV!

I love how you incorporated a little of the local culture in your post.  Get locals interested!!  Very good stuff!

Sarah, Having Flat Caleb at the Craft show was like having a "blinking" sign. I always asked permission to photograph and the response was so positive. Lots of people had heard of the Flat Stanley project through their children/friends/grandkids. Flat Caleb is a wonderful attention getter, and sooo much easier to handle than a dog or child! And he is sooo cute!

Look forward to Flat James in WV.

Looks like Flat Caleb is having some fun with you, Margaret. Time for some R&R ! :))

Sarah, We had been at the show for a few hours when the glass artist asked the question. I knew right away, that was the title!!

Nick, R&R, I am taking time to do fun things with Caleb. It is like seeing through a child's eyes.

Margaret, My guess is you will end up getting a listing out of your Flat Caleb adventures:) I'm just glad I didn't have to play with paper dolls!

BB, that's because you really  know how to delegate. You have TLW  to play with paper dolls for you!!

If I get a listing because of Flat Caleb, does he get a referral fee? LOL I do have him on my expense account!

Margaret - this is so cute, and LOVE your title!!!  How fun to take him to that craft fair with you and show him around - I bet you got lots of great comments.  Can't wait to see his next adventures up on a post of yours.

Ann

Wow... In your pants already... He is fast!  Better watch out or soon he'll be roaming around the mountains....  :-)

Brother Dan - you ARE sumpin' else!!!  Bad Dan!  Pay him no mind, Margaret!

Ann

Ann, Thanks for the coming to my rescue.

Margaret...

Oh boy. My tongue is bleeding. It's from biting it because I can't say what I am thinking. LOL.

I'll ask you what I asked Ann. Didn't ya just want to put doll clothes on him?

I want Flat Ben back so I can do that to him. LOL.

P.S. Do you have to give Flat Matt a referral fee? :)

TLW...ROAR!

A conversation starter that doesn't say much?  HA!  I'm loving it!  I hope he's getting you a listing!

TLW, At the craft show they had little hand made baby clothes but they were only for girls.. I decided NOT to do that to Flat Caleb. Now go put some ice on that bleeding tongue. LOL

Caleb, I am having way too much fun with Flat Caleb who is so appreciative and never complains. Today we  went to the park with a friend and her baby who absolutely loved you! She even  chewed your arm off. Then to lunch in Hamden, and photos with the owners, then to have a  snowball which I think are native to Baltimore. Oh and I stopped by my Coldwell Banker Office to take pictures with my manager and a couple of colleagues.

A listing...not this week ....way tooo busy showing Flat Caleb the sights. Tomorrow , maybe we will go flying in the plane. Is there anything in particular you want to do while in town.

Margaret -- this makes me so excited!  I am so glad to hear that you are having a great time with this!  I look forward to more of his Baltimore adventures!

Sis.. Bad..?  Don't be startin' trouble.  With a title like this and a pose like that plus a link to get me here little Miss Sweet 16 was asking for some witty comments.

Margaret.. I see you LOL all over the place for I figure you have a sense of humor. If I am ever on the edge just let me know and delete me...  Never intentionally BAD but everyones definition is different.

Colleen, You should be excited! Did you ever imagine how wide spread this little idea of yours would  go?

Dan, Your intent was fun...not bad and your comments were fun; and appropriate for the title that I choose!

Chewed my arm off???  Wow, I thought I was safe after leaving Nick. :)

Caleb, You are fine. It was just a little baby who adored you! I'll have pictures soon. Just posted our outing to Sherwood Gardens. ,,,Today we had a wonderful time at the airport!  Having lots of fun .. not having time to post all our adventures.

(05/02/07 12:17AM) — Kristal Kraft ~ Denver Real Estate

OK Margaret, so do people think you are crazy going around with a scuba diver in your pants?  I am so concerned  Caleb is not properly dressed.

Please go buy him some SHOES so he doesn't fall on his face.  Fins are very dangerous out of the water you know!

kk

Kristal, Some do think that!.. but... we never let unimportant people become important.

Not to worry about his attire! Our weather has been perfect. No need for shoes since, he rides in my waist band.  I do beleive that  of the two of us, he is  more comfortable! LOL

This week he used his fins; took him to a client's home who  have a new addition including  a pool and hot tub.

Don't worry, he is very well taken care of and... there are more  Flat Caleb posts on the way!!

Are you heading for NM??

It IS fun to host our friends. We turn some heads, but get a lot of smiles.

Sharon, you are so right! Smiles..we love to make people smile!
