This is dedicated to allthose who gave their lives for our country.
I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at the Maryland Association of Realtors Convention in Ocean City Maryland. I went down to the continental breakfast, a lot of my colleagues stayed at the same hotel, we were all glued to the TV after the first plane hit. Then the second plane hit. It was surreal. News of the Pentagon being hit was next. Then all flights were grounded. We all were holding our breath, what was next? The plane crashed in Pennsylvania.
Before long, the convention was cancelled. All activities called off. It was a beautiful sunny day in Ocean City MD, we walked along the beach & the boardwalk, not wanting to believe what happened in New York, DC and PA.
I couldn't wait to get home and hug my 8 year old daughter. After I got home, the details of 9-11 started to unfold. As many others, I found my personnel connection to the disaster. I learned a classmate from high school, her brother John Collins was one of the fire fighters killed. Two days later, watching TV, I learned that one of my past clients was on the plane that hit the Pentagon. Mari Rae Soper, she was on her way to start her new life with her fiancée in California. Growing up in New Jersey, I heard of the friends and neighbors of my family members who lost their lives that day.
I believe, my generation will always remember where they were on 9-11-2001, God Bless all those who lost their lives that day and those who have lost their lives fighting for our freedom since then.
Where were you? What do you remember from that day? Tell me your story.
