A Walk of Remembrance Tomorrow for 9/11 Victims at University of Maryland

Tomorrow morning, September 11, 2011, members of the University of Maryland community will begin to assemble at 8:45 a.m. in the recently-completed Garden of Reflection adjacent to the Memorial Chapel. Individuals and groups will walk in memory of those who died in the attacks ten years ago. The walk will continue for the next 24 hours, through the labyrinth. Each participant's walk along this quarter-mile path will honor one individual.

Hundreds of people have signed up to walk for for a specific person of their choice or one assigned to them, along with a brief biography of that individual. Participaants were able to choose the time they wished to walk, and to indicate if they wanted to walk as a group.

Faculty, staff and members of the community will be participating in this Walk of Rememberance as well as students and student groups. Non-participating members of the community are welcome to stop by and remember or to participate in a candlelight vigil.

This is one of several events on campus throughout the week, including a 7:30 tomorrow night at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.
