Deale Beach and Rest Haven in Deale Maryland
The views from homes along the Chesapeake Bay in the communities of Deale Beach and Rest Haven are nearly unchanged since 1659 when Englishman Richard Gott marked off the 600 acres of Deale. In the 1850's watermen traveled from the Eastern Shore to a huge natural oyster bar called Bay Shore Bar. At one time, most of Rest Haven was owned by Captain Bernard Franklin. Later the area became the Phipps farm and by the 50's it was the McKibbon's farm. Then later sub-divided and aptly named the area "Rest Haven". The History of Rest Haven is well documented.
Today Rest Haven consists of twenty-two homes located along Parker Creek on one side and the Chesapeake Bay on the other. Deale Beach consists of 155 homes located along Carr's Creek and shared the Chesapeake Bay waterfront with Rest Haven.
The Community of Rest Haven sponsors a website with additional information for long-time residents as well as newcomers. The Community of Deale Beach sponsors a Facebook page with information about the community center and boat ramp.

Each winter the swans come for their own rest at Rest Haven and Deale Beach. Pictured above is a flock of white swans enjoying a lazy swim in the afternoon sun. In the winter when the air is crisp and clear its easy to look across the Chesapeake Bay and gaze at Eastern Bay and Tilghman Island.
