Elms Beach of Lexington Park Maryland is a Vacation Spot at Home!

One of the things I love about living in Calvert County and near St. Mary's County are the abundance of beaches, private and public. I mean it is as if I am on vacation every day during the summer. After a long day of work, I get home change into my suit and walk to the neighborhood beach and enjoy a few hours of sun, sand and water.

A friend came down this weekend to visit and enjoy the Southern Maryland beaches with me and he discovered a beach I never heard of that is in Lexington Park Md. Elms Beach, is a state park and offers no fees to enter. It is opened as early as 8am to sunset. It has a huge beach area, plenty of port-a-potty's, grills and picnic tables as well as banana hammocks. The playground is the delight of kids aged 2-10years old and the park and beach area was well kept and clean. I enjoyed my visit to the this beach and just made me love living in this area even more. It amazes me on how many things there is to discover and enjoy what Southern Maryland has to offer. Disregard the commute to Virginia or DC to work and the hustle and bustle of the city. Consider that every weekend you are vacationing and you are only 10-30 minutes away from sailing, boating, fishing, swimming, great restaurants and weekend events that are culturally fulfilling and interesting. It is definitely worth the weekday commute to come home to this every evening & weekend.Elm Beach Playground area
