Lindale Middle School Teachers Campout for Food

My oldest son is an alumni of Lindale Middle School so I always keep an eye out for items in the news from his old alma mater. Notification of this event appeared in the Glen Burnie Patch today so I thought I'd give it some more exposure.

Some of the staff and teachers of Lindale Middle School will be camping out all week in an effort to fill a POD with food donations for the Anne Arundel County Food and Resource Bank. They pitched their tents in front of the school yesterday and will be there until the end of Thursday. They will be accepting donations from 3pm until 10pm daily until Thursday evening. Please drop by with your donation, see the list below for some ideas.

Lindale Middle School is located at 415 Andover Road, Linthicum, MD 21090. Please help out these brave folks by bringing your donations to the school between 3pm and 10pm until Thursday, January 12, 2012.

The Anne Arundel County Food Bank is a free resource bank that gives away food and donated “gently used” appliances, furniture, medical equipment, baby items, cars and other items that will help a needy family make a home and a better way of life. Please contact them directly to schedule an appointment. The Food Bank also serve other non-profit and community organizations. They are currently in need of slightly used unstained beds (mattresses/boxsprings) of all sizes, dressers, small kitchen tables with chairs, and vehicles for low-income families in need. Please note all donations are tax deductible and all recipients receive items at no cost.

• Canned beans - kidney beans, black beans, pinto beans, northern beans, baked beans etc
• Canned Meat - spam, corned beef, tuna, salmon, chicken
• Baby Food
• Baby Formula
• Disposable Diapers
• Canned Stew
• Canned Sloppy Joe
• Rice - plain rice, flavored rice products
• Canned Tomatoes and tomato sauce
• Canned Spaghetti Sauce
• Dried Beans, lentils
• Spices, Seasonings and Flavor Enhancers
• Canned fruit
• Any non-perishable food products

In this economy there are more and more families in need. You don't have to spend a lot. I went to the local discount grocery store and spent $10 and came away with 2 big bags of food that I dropped off at my local donation center. Please help those less fortunate than ourselves.
