Ready To Spring Forward? Southern Maryland get ready!
This Sunday (March 14th) is 2010 Daylight Saving Time. (DST) You're technically supposed to change your clock at 2:00 am standard time. If you plan on making church on time, make sure to set you clock an hour ahead before your hit the sack, or you're going to be late.
We gain an extra hour of lightin the evening ladies and ge
ntlemen! Get ready to fire up those grills!
The theory behind the clock change is to save energy, however it hasn't really been proven to work. Benjamin Franklin is actually the guy who came up with it! But the practice wasn't instituted in the United States until WWI.
Places like Hawaii, Arizona, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Indiana, PuertoRico don't even recognize DST. Europe has been taking advantage of this idea for years though. And places like Kyrgyzstan observe year-round Daylight Saving Time (the only country in the world) and has been doing so since 2005
Now that we have a little more daylight to show real estate in Southern Maryland, our days will get longer and more evening appointments during the week. It seems that the weekends are much busier in the winter months because it's dark so early. So, I am ready to spring forward and happy to work longer days as long as the sun shines!
But, chances are, you do have to spring forward on Sunday. So don't forget, our you're going to be an hour behind all day!
