Stop Asking Me If They Will Accept Vouchers
I have a great property listed for rent. I have been receiving calls left and right. I think that I am up to 15 calls at the moment.
The house was previously rented to a nice couple. Nice couple, that is until they decided to stop paying the rent and decided to allow 3 other families to move in with them.
The house is less than 5 years old, but once we got these tenants out, the entire house had to be repainted and recarpeted and several appliances had to be replaced.
How can anybody be so hard on a house?
Now that it is back to its like new condition and on the market again, all that I am getting is calls from people and agents asking if they will accept Section 8 or a Voucher Program.
No, they will not accept Section 8 or any other freebie program.
They will accept someone who has a job which allows them to afford the home.
They will accept someone who has good credit.
They will accept someone who has a good rental history.
They will accept someone who has good references.
They will accept someone who has no criminal record.
I realize that these are tough economic times, but I, also, realize that a few years ago when the economy was booming and when properties were moving even before they were listed that the same number of people still asked about whether or not the owner would accept Section 8 or a Voucher.
This property is listed for $1,750 per month, which per comparable properties it is worth, but not too far from this property there are homes which can accommodate a family of the same size and which are listed at closer to $1,000 per month.
So why are people who can not afford anything looking at the more expensive property?
You do not have the money, so you do not deserve the house.
