Too Much Fun at Sullivan's Restaurant in Laurel

We decided to go to Sullivan's Restaurant for some Irish Festivities on Saint Patrick's Day this year. Sullivan's starts their party early in the day but we didn't arrive until around 4:30. Sullivan's is owned by my friend Vicki. We met Vicki and her husband Neil at Walden Golf Club where Dave golfs.

Sullivan's is located in a strip center, across the street from Maryland City, minutes from Fort Meade, on the same side as Russett on the Fort Meade side of Rt. 1. On one side of Sullivan's is a restaurant and on the other side is bar and a small dance floor.

We arrived and sat on the restaurant side, which was packed as you can imagine. I wasn't very hungry but one of our friends ordered the Irish stew and I couldn't resist. It was made with beef, not lamb, chunks of potatos and carrots and served with two dinner rolls and butter. Really, really tasty and it was only $5.49! A large serving and very filling. They also had a corned beef and cabbage dish which was quite large and I knew I couldn't fit all of that. It was less than $10 and quite a meal.

The service was surprisingly good despite the crowd. We ordered pitchers so that there wouldn't be a wait on refills. Then the DJ started playing music. Not just any music, but my favorite dance songs from the late 70s and 80s - Donna Summer, Abba, I don't remember all of them, but I got up and started dancing. Dave even danced with me, which is a rarity. The DJ was great and saw the type of music we liked and kept playing similar types of music. We met several "locals" that frequent Sullivan's and they took us in just like we were regulars. Also ran into a friend that we haven't seen in about 8 years.

We stayed longer than planned but it was so much fun, didn't want it to stop. We'll be up again for the next big party which is Cinco de Mayo - the 5th of May. Party starts at noon and they will have DJ Cowboy music and Karaoke from 7pm til close. They are also featuring the world famous "Neilaritas".
