Rosedale 21237-A brief history?

Rosedale 21237-Finding information on the history of Baltimore County, Rosedale, Maryland 21237 is a real feat!

The true development of the area did not occur until after WWII, but previously was primarily farmland in a very rural atmosphere.

The legend of the naming of the community comes from a child that told a story of a man named Dale that had a farm on Hamilton Avenue north of Philadelphia Rd. The farm was known by locals for being beautifully covered in roses and so people began to use it as a local marker....thus Rose...dale. How true this is, at least to me, is unknown, but does make a very nice story.

Two links of interest that I found for the Rosedale community are Kiwanis of Rosedale and the Library,

The 2000 census shows a population of 19,199 in the CDP (Census Designated Places)with median household income at $47,801. The average family size is 3.07.

Total households of record are 7272, with 76.2% or 5544 being owner occupied .26.9% of homes were built between 1960 and 1969-the largest segment of home building in Rosedale history.
