When is the BEST time to hire a home stager?

Sure - plenty of home stagers will tell you the BEST time to hire a home stager is EVERY time. But as a stager, I have found some homes need staging assistance more than others. My experience has found that just having a vacant home isn't always enough. The strongest case for staging is made when you have a vacant property with an open floor plan - living and dining combo, or else rooms that seem small and/or confusing. That is when the furniture, art and accessories can really showcase a house and help potential buyers see it as a home. A great example is of a home we staged in Takoma Park recently - the layout was a bit awkward as the house had been recently renovated, but some of the architectural elements of the original home were still intact. The way that the rooms flow next to other make it feel like a large passageway, so our goal was to create stops where people can stop and enjoy each space. Adding furniture and decor gives each space a place to stop and enjoy the room! Check out our after home staging pictures below...

I really like the way we were able to utilize the existing daybed within the dining space - by creating a little area for reading, day dreaming, or lounging. Now each space has purpose and potential buyers can visualize how to use the space to fit their own lifestyle. As a stager, that is the goal!
