Bring your trusty video camera along when you take in the next state event that's in your venue. You are the host location for a major state tournament, festival, trade show, new development or success with lots of people pouring into your area which is an economic boon in motel, restaurant, gas sales. Sure you list, market, sell real estate in whatever way it takes. But you live in a town or city with lots of local events, community experiences. Don't keep them a secret or hog all the local flavor for yourself. Lights. Camera. Action.
The video coverage of the event you are at anyway is one more "thread" in the local fabric that you weave to show folks on the "outside" as they raise their periscope, doing sweeps back and forth on the net for places. Some may be relocating to their next assignment and hungry to be shown something about the new town or city on line before hand. They are going to need a home and not planning on sleeping in their car when they land here either. Hey, is that an "R" on your jacket? Can you say Realtor?

Example, Joe or Josie Surfer works for border protection, etc. In Maine, since 911, we have have a major influx of uniformed folks working as border patrol, immigration, custom agents on the Houlton/Canadian border. They want to know about this new employment post way up here in the right hand corner of the world. Whip out your video camera that is carried like Clint Eastwood would pack a side arm.
You are at the event or should be working it if you are civic, community minded anyway. It is one more piece of the local puzzle that one by one make up the search engine "picture" of your local area. Doesn't take long and your pride and excitement of living in your hometown as the local professional will shine thru. Locals love the coverage too because you are showcasing not just homes, but why you love living where you do. Houlton Maine hosted 35 schools over the weekend for the State Vocal Jazz / Show Choir Vocal Competition. The Town was a buzz and on top of a trade show at the Millar Civic Center too so all kinds of new faces having an experience, putting money in the local business coffers. Time to put on the Chamber of Commerce hat, roll out the red carpet to make sure they had a memorable time. Capture it on video, whip out your camera, upload it for all to see. Oh by the way, Houlton was the winner runner up and there were alot of major talent high school choral groups at this Maine event. Watch the Houlton Maine State Vocal Competition video. I volunteered to MC the Saturday afternoon session so might as well capture it on video where I was parked right next door, up close and personal. You are at
the event anyway. Don't just stand there and clap, fire up your camera to document it for all to see on line. Tell the world how proud you are about in this case the amazing Houlton Maine music program. A multi million dollar Houlton Performing Arts Center starts construction this summer. With fingers crossed, next year's Maine State Vocal Competition that is again in Houlton will be in the new larger, totally revamped facilty on Byrd Street's Houlton High School.
