South Berwick's "Berwick Academy"

In addition to the Marshwood School District (SAD 35) which serves South Berwick, there is also a private school located in South Berwick of some renown. It attracts students from many communities in Maine and New Hampshire. Its Berwick Academy.

Founded in 1791, Berwick Academy is the oldest educational institution in Maine. The Berwick Academy community is a dynamic, challenging and caring group of teachers and learners. It strikes a unique balance by being academically rigorous through an incredibly rich program, while tempering that challenge with a sense of caring and warmth.

Students are encourages to stretch themselves and take risks, expanding their horizons through a well-rounded approach that balances the academic experience with the extraordinary athletic, dramatic, artistic and musical options available at the school.
