Power of thinking correctly

I read another blog about an agent that was looking at how much real estate business that hasn't closed for them. She was trying to get her mojo back. She asked for our opinions. i didn't think a comment would suffice when you are down and out. Whether it is real estate business or any business person struggling in this economy these are my thoughts.

Looking at your failures and dwelling on it can be a downer. Sure it is important to look at why it didn't happen to make yourself better. You can't stop some of the factors that are hurting you in this economy. You have no control over them. So why worry about them. To add up failures and compare it to your winning isn't the way to create a winning attitude.

When you lose weight we don't keep track of how many pounds we didn't lose. We keep track of how many pounds we lose each week. A champion keeps tracks of how many wins not losses.

Here in real estate or any business in the current economy don't focus on your losses. We all have them. We must concentrate on our little wins. We could all cry about our problems. I live in Metro Detroit one of the worst economies in the nation. We aren't giving up here. We are surviving. We are going to work every day. Try selling houses that were worth $150,000 a few years ago for $32,000 now. That's an attitude adjustment.

Think about this, we really all have great lives. We can afford cell phones, cars, and computers. Some people can't even afford these things. Some people have never traveled out of the city they live in... they can't afford to travel. We could live in a third world country. We could live in a dictatorship where we don't have the freedoms we have here in America. We could live in a country where the women are treated as 3rd class citizens. We are lucky. We have the smarts and ability to be business people.

So before you start counting your failures, count your successes. Count your blessings. Count the positives. Look at your failure for a minute only to improve yourself. Don't keep a tally of losses. Move on and celebrate success!
