A busy weekend at Tawas Point State Park with the Tawas Point Celebration Days festival taking place on its grounds last weekend.
The annual event, put on by the Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse & State Park and the
Michigan Department of Natural resources, stems from the early 1980s, originally as a bluegrass festival, and provides family fun and educational opportunities for all ages.
According to organizers, the idea behind the event was to provide family entertainment without a beer tent. As long as there is an educational opportunity, any vendor or exhibitor is invited.
Over the weekend, the celebration gave visitors a chance to participate in arts and crafts projects from more than 100 years ago.
