September 11 Patriot Day Ceremony to be held in Farmington Hills
A Patriot Day ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 11 at 5:30 p.m. in Heritage Park located on Farmington Road between Ten and Eleven Mile. The American Legion Post #346 of Farmington will present the annual 9-11 ceremony to honor those who served our country in the past and also to honor the men and women who currently serve in the American armed forces throughout the world.

In the U.S., Patriot Day occurs on September 11 of each year, designated in memory of the nearly three thousand people who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Organizer Wally Christensen, chaplain and past commander for American Legion Post #346, asks community members to set aside this day to show their support. "During this memorial service, the American Legion will honor local citizens from all walks of life who have served to preserve our generation and all future generations," said Christensen.
Local officials will take part in the ceremony along with police, fire, clergy, active and reserve military units, veterans, and youth groups. For more information, call 248-871-2500.
