I started this series several days ago...in case you missed one of the installments I have posted the links below to make it east to catch up on this showing safety guide of securing a home after showing your client.

The last part of the three part series has to do with showing a home that is unsecured. The first thing you do even if the property looks like it is fine and someone forgot to look the does is call your office and let them know where you are. Tell then, "I am showing client "JOHN DOE" at 123 Unsecured Lane". Have them call you back in three to five minutes. Your signal is simple two calls with no answer and the call the police.
If you have run into an unexpected situation...somebody else knows and you have help on the way. If the second call comes and you answer no calls to the police are made. The first call is a non-answer on purpose the second is the warning call. If you answer no worries if you don't answer the other person watching out for your safety is instructed to call.
This is easy and simple. You can tell whoever in in the room on the first call it is from home. The second call they must need something and answer or them again and don't answer so the authorities area called immediately.
Doors do not have to be open to have a home not secure. How many times have you heard of intruders gaining access to property through unlock windows. breaking a window is the matter of finding a rock.
Personal security needs all of us that show homes to help maintain the safety of each other.
How many times have you gone to a home that has been left unlocked with a door or slider open?
Hope this serves as a reminder, others depend on our professionalism even if they are not the buyer or seller.
