Real estate (hopefully) feeds your body. What feeds your soul?

When you've spent the day slaying dragons who don't have the decency to stay dead, how do you readjust your frame of mind to go out and do it all again? How do you put it all in perspective? How do you smooth yourself out?

Gardening works for me. There's something about that connection to the earth.

What works for you?

Karen- This is a good question....and taking care of ourselves is the only way we have the strength to go out day after day and "slay dragons".  For me....I make sure I have "me" time, time to just be, think, and feel.  I also like to sit and just feel the beauty of a day, whether it is the beginning or the end.

Good for you, Kathy.  Unlike me, you've got a method that doesn't depend on the weather or the season or the time of day.

Hi Karen,

Nice picture.  I find being out and walking always makes me feel instantly better!  I enjoy reading, some weeding and dancing.

Karen, like you I escape to the garden to gain back my perspective.  Of course, living in NH means that I have to try to make do with catalogs until Spring rolls around again.  Even the most trying day seems less stressful after some time pulling weeds.  I get my best "mental housekeeping" done in the garden!

Leslie, I envy your rose-growing climate.  Weeding is not my favorite job, but it is very satisfying.  Kindof like reclaiming the garden from the forces of evil.

Hi, Kim.  I'd rather plant than weed.  More "wow factor" for the time spent,  But gardening is almost like meditation for me.

Sometimes I get help to slay dragons :)  It's the determination and drive that keeps me going.....because I love my profession. I have only potted plants but it still helps ...talking to plants that don't talk back is a good thing :)

Hi, Sally.  I'll start to worry about you if the potted plants ever do talk back!  Thanks for stopping by.

Karen, here are just three of my soul recharging activities: Gardening while listening to special music, swimming three times a week. Browsing in my "Life Goals" book and using my imagination.  Getting up in the morning and appreciating another day to start all over!

My dog...always happy to see me...always so content to just sit in silence..don't disagree...I don't need my makeup..my heels...my I'm in control look...just me and my little girl Mocha Latte'!

I hear you, Cheryl.  I have two friends who live out west and who have mountain views.  The mountains look different because of the changing light all day.  It's fascinating.

Hi, Simone.  I'm big into positive attitude and gratitude, too.  Peace out.

Catherine, I think there's a lot we can learn from dogs.  Smooch Mocha Latte on the schnoz for me.
