The Grand Rapids Association of Realtors constantly monitors the MLS procedures and methods to make sure they are up to date. Implementing a new software system behind the scenes is one example of how staying progressive without disturbing the public is part of the association process.
Many buyers and sellers use the public side of the MLS to find homes...track market conditions even find a Realtor to represent them. The Grand Rapids Association of Realtors known to the Realtors as GRARhas listened and made the transition for both the public and Realtors as smooth as possible. One of the key reason for people to use the acronym GRAR is that it is also used in the website link. www.grar.com This makes it easy to remember. The public can search both residential and commercial information. Many Realtor and broker sites like www.FlexItRealty.com links directly to the MLS search side of the site for client convenience.
Keeping the MLS so it looks and feels the same for public use making the MLS visually undisturbed was a key element in the transition process of updating the site and software.
On the other side; Realtors had many things to learn and new functions to perform so the transition for many of them was not as easy. They gained in most area but learning how the functions worked was done with class time and hands on demonstrations.
One of the great features was the ability to create forms in a format that was designed specifically for the client needs. No two properties are alike and the needs of sellers and buyers are not the same either.
Thought you might like to know how concerned the GRAR, the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors was for the public during the recent transition to provide expanded services to the public.
You find all types of Residential and Commercial listings on the Grand Rapids MLS...which covers not only the Grand Rapids and metro area...but the West Michigan housing market as well.

Our MLS recently underwent a change too, we went to a more secure log in where we need a dongle that gives us a secure password for each time we log into the system. It's a real pain. Not all change is a good thing. Good luck!!
Sounds like some positive improvements. Of course they have you to straighten the wrinkles out.
Thanks for the sound advise. We did present everything at our appiontment that you covered in your e-mail, its good to hear it from someone else. Next appointment is Tuesday. :)
The only way you will miss it is if they give away their services and then .... they can be upside down on the representation side Keith. Thanks for the comments...Good Luck....hope you get it!
Hi June, the dongle works only if you have it with you and how much is it if you lose it? The login can be monitored. We have a fine for sharing your password. It has been imposed a few times. The down side is you can not share your password with your secretary, wife or team member...they have to have their own and be either licensed as an agent or assistant. Thanks for the comments June.
