Get your mailing done fast! Postage going up.....Again!

Let me see....if it snows I don't get my mail...my mail carrier complains she doesn't have snow tires as she spins away.

I get little notes from my carrier that my mailbox is to hard to open. I couldn't figure out why the carrier was in from of my homes mailbox so long...reading the mail? Nope...she was filing my mailbox door to reduce the friction so it opened and closed the way she wanted. I asked her to stop...it could flop open in the wind and my mail would get wet. She says you may buy them but they are under postal law jurisdiction! Hey....I hate inform you but only the mail and tampering with the mail or boxes for illegal activity is governed by that law. You can't file or alter peoples mailboxes to suit your whim.

She says fine...I can't open the box you don't get mail....I'll make a note! She puts her little truck in drive and slings snow as she speeds around my cul-de-sac....Mayberry strikes again. I have to make a trip to the post office and talk to a supervisor...he says is the box hard to open? My wife opens it "when" we get mail. Oh he says...I know your carrier....he starts laughing and says isn't she something? She keeps us in laughs around here. What did she do this time? She was filing my mailbox to reduce the door friction. He starts laughing again and hollers over to one of the other workers....Mary's filing his mailbox...Yeah she doesn't like to work to hard....so why is she here? I ask. She really hasn't done anything wrong unless you want to press charges for destruction of private property...but I doubt it will be over a hundred dollars. NO....I just want my mail and not be harassed over dumb stuff...can you please get her to just put the mail in the box and be on her way? Sure, he says and then laughs.

I am thinking of putting up this mailbox do you think she will like it?

If she is sick or doesn't show my mail comes 5 hours later...do you think someone changes the route? I don't always get my mail because I am on the cul-de-sac with 2 other homes...she doesn't like to drive down our sloping hill when we have snow....it is winter in Michigan!

I go to the local post office....I affectionately call Mayberry! They look for my mail....don't think you have anything. Please look again I get mail everyday! "Gee, who would have put your mail over there? Here ya go....NEXT!"

So I personally have thought for years we should have privatized the mail system. The cost overruns and government waste is mind boggling. Then add the costs to handle it....seems like there is a better way.

Even when they had a surplus budget a while back I knew we were in for another shoe to drop....it did.

I asked before I left the window with my mail....if I buy the "Forever Stamps" will I have to add 2 cents or am I good? No you will have to add 2 cents to meet the new postage rate or your mail will be returned as postage due.

The website doesn't say that, I said....it says the Forever Stamps can be used until they are gone then the new rate will apply. Just goes to show you nothing is Forever, he says! I am in an urban area just outside Michigan's second largest city. This should not be an issue...neither should having the government run the post office.

I just want my mail and be able to send mail when I need too.....at a reasonable rate. I use email whenever possible...you just can't always use email.
