"Waste not - Want Not"
This is something that I heard growing up. Both my mom and my grandma were famous for quoting cliches, and I must follow in their footsteps!
"One in the hand is better than two in the bush..."
"Let sleeping dogs lie....."
and many many more....
Today I want to concentrate on the
WASTE NOT - WANT NOT
It annoys me to see tax dollars wasted. There is an assessment on my taxes that goes to the Wixom Lake Improvement Board. Every year when I get SIX envelopes, with the same brochures inside, I get annoyed. The postage is $1.00 for each envelope, and this year the flyer was 8 pages.
40 of these pages are WASTE
5 of these envelopes are WASTE
$5.00 of postage is WASTE
5 of these envelopes will not even be opened and will go in the trash = WASTE
A couple weeks ago, I received in the mail a beautiful color post card from a local real estate company. ONLY 1
Last year, when our two mobiles that sit on 20 acres were required to be hooked into the Billings Township Sewer System, the approved contractors in and out of the area sent postcards, or brochures to advertise their company and try to get a piece of this pie. There were over 700 homes that were required to hook in the system within a three month period. It was a little BOOM for these contractors to get all this work in a three month period when small businesses in Michigan (and probably everywhere) are going belly up.
Most of these contractors did not send multiple mailings to our address, they OBVIOUSLY sorted out the duplications... WHY?
When I do a mailing from a list obtained from Equalization records, I sort them and send only one to each person - WHY?
Because I
PERSONALLY
PAY
for the Postage, paper, ink and envelopes.
I CANNOT afford WASTE.
Tax dollars are wasted at every level of government,
and I THINK IT IS A SHAME!
