A good Day
A Better than Best Day
Yes, this is a day that will go down into History Books--World Wide--:
The event is one to be remembered, probably with a statue or something;
This happened totally unexpected --even though I had bad dreams concerning all types of confused, non-rewarding events from which I could NOT extricate myself. which made for a disturbed night's sleeping;
What could have brought this roller-coaster-type-ride, the ups & downs of spousal stress, & the belief that one of us [not me] was being totally unreasonable???;
...Sal's XP laptop Crashed--and I mean CRASHED. after he downloaded and installed some massive amount
of updates from Micro-soft;
...running CCleaner & ran Registry analyse & 'fix';
...then o Thursday, he opened his computer to do what ever it is that he does there--
and the 'warning windows' started from MS;
...making this long story-short, I worked on it for 3-4 hours, during which time I heard 'Just stop,
I'll get a new one tomorrow [which is today-Friday] through to "No, I'll take this to Zak's & see how
much it will take to 'fix'", moving all the way through my suggesting [strongly] that he purchase a new one
with windows 7 that as that has MS Essentials as the built-in virus,spy-ware, all bad things program.
to this he said,"No I need to save money-- [the dreaded money talk] to buy a new car"
"A new car, why" to which he answered "well we are giving your car to Ed in the fall [good idea] and
you will need one then [we do not always play well together & that includes any type of shopping trip].
so I pointed out that this is April, the earliest that would happen is some time in November.
[on retrospect not a good point to bring up to a man who knows numbers, math & all ways that they overlap]
So, I went on my way around 8:00pm thinking that the subject was closed,
and this non-functioning laptop was going to the Zak's for computer hospital-time.
Today, He and the laptop left and I figured that was the end so off to the Friday laundry schedule.
Well. well-well, back home he came & said he was off to Office Max to get a new computer. "What","How", "Who' was able to convince Sal that it was totally worth the expense and change from XP to Windows 7 ?!? [Not I]
He was at that store having so much fun as he called asking me [ME!} asking if I needed anything [yes, 02 inks] and announcing that he has a great Acer laptop in his cart. Great!
Another call to see if it would be smart for him to purchase a new printer [Yeah. of course , will it be the HP C series All-In-One with the 6 inks???] Yes, and Yes.
He came home with both--it was like Christmas & Birthday all wrapped up as one. I came up to his office in the back of the Home [you remember that I am in the finished basement & he is as far back in the Home as house plans allot--we really don't play well together during work either] The computer box was so small that at first, he thought it was still in the car. But, there it was and then it was open--it is very thin & so light weight.
It does have two plastic clips that seem to be packaging clips--he was going to 'snap' them off. I opted for the Manuel--which did not mention them.
I left the office saying 'go ahead-snap them off I wash my hands of all of this & will not take the blame if you have to use the 3 year warranty.
He is waiting until Tuesday, when the Tech from Zak's is coming to set up the computer to make certain that we are still 'linked through the wireless connection'.
Today was a happy day & Tuesday will be a glorious day.
Just wanted to share these homey-fun-filled-times-of we older folks.
