Centex is leaving the area. (Like Elvis is leaving the building?)

I just received the following email:

Recently, Centex Homes announced it will wind down its operations in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. Our decision was based on an assessment of the long-term opportunities for our company in this market. This letter provides you with information about how this decision affects you.

As one of the top builders in the country, Centex Homes is committed to fulfilling its obligations with our customers, homeowners, and realtors.

As our transition plan unfolds, please be assured that your client's homes will continue to be built to Centex's high standard. All aspects of the building process will not be affected by this change. You and your clients will continue to enjoy the same award-winning levels of service and quality from the local team that you've come to expect from a Centex relationship.

Our operations in Detroit will wind down in the next 12-18 months. During this time, we will continue to sell, build and close homes for your clients. We look forward to working with you throughout this process.

This is a sad announcement as we have helped quite a few buyers purchase and enjoy Centex homes and we have had a good relationship with many of their people. We wish them all the best.
