Congratulations! You have a signed purchase agreement and it actually looks like the deal is going to go through.....now what? You need to begin thinking about moving all of your belongings from the dog house to the ugly Wedding gift you received from Aunt Betty. Well, here are some tips to help make the move easier.
Are the movers licensed and insured? If not, move on. You have no guarantee you'll be covered should something get broken or lost. Wouldn't you hate for Aunt Betty's ugly wedding gift to get broken?
Do you know what is insured? This is important to know and understand. Basic "released value" insurance holds the mover liable for about 60 cents per ound. Purchasing "full value protectinon" replaces lost or damaged items at market value.
Is the estimate firm? Binding estimates are firm estimates of exactly what your final cost will be. Non-binding estimates are figures that may increase significantly on moving day.
References? A good moving company is happy to provide a list of previous customers to contact for references. Check with the Better Business Bureau to see if any complaints have been filed against the prospective mover.
