The annual Ypsilanti Heritage Festival starts this weekend, Friday the 15th through Sunday the 17th.
This is the 30th year anniversary for the Heritage Festival held at Frog Island, Riverside Park, Depot Town and downtown Ypsilanti. A gorgeous setting along the Huron River with plenty of things to do for people of all ages.
Some of my favorite events are the Civil War Encampment, all the music at Riverside Park and the arts and crafts. The Ancestors gathering is also a great event featuring the life and times of the history and settlement of Ypsilanti, MI.
Over 100 Artists will be featured at the Heritage Festival. Washtenaw Community College jazz band will be performing, Unchained, (a Christian Rock band) Dueling Pianos, Noteworthy ( soul and blues band), Ypsilanti Community Choir, Ypsilanti Youth Orchestra plus many, many more. The complete three day schedule can be found here.
There are tons of activities for the children, from clowns, to a talent contest, face painting comedy magic and a hot dog eating contest. Check the schedule as there is events for kids all 3 days.
Just good ole' family fun.
Admission is FREE.
The parade starts at 10:00 on Saturday morning down Mi. Ave.

Hi Missy,
We really enjoy the local festivals. My niece asked me this past week-end what the difference was between a carnival and a festival. I know what the difference used to be but now is seems to be "location".
