One of my favorite things to do is to wake up just before sunrise, jump on my bike and ride to Ford Lake. There is a system of bridges which take you right out over the water and there is no better place than this in Ypsilanti to watch the sun rise.
Ford Lake was formed in 1932 when Henry Ford completed a damn over the Huron River to supply hydroelectric power to one of his plants. The lake covers 958 acres and is surrounded by 6 parks known as the Ford Lake Park System including Ford Lake, Loonfeather Point, North Bay, South Hydro, North Hydro, and Lakeside Parks.
Whether you are new to the Ypsilanti area or are a long time resident Ford Lake is a great place to visit and enjoy. It truly is one of the things that make Ypsilanti a great place to live.
