Twellow Your Twitter

Part 2 of our exploration of all things Twitter

Twellow is a popular Twitter directory. It includes a profile separate from your Twitter profile, a listing in up to 10 different categories, and a listing by community. You can search for people in your area, groups you are a member of or would just like to follow, personal and professional categories, friends, enemies…you name it!

Ready to get started? It can be a bit confusing. First you will need to Get Listed. Once you have completed this, you will then need to Register for FREE. (It seems like these should be in one step!) Fill out your profile and you are done with your directory listing!

To take it a few steps further, add yourself to several categories. If you filled it out correctly, you will probably find that you are already in the Real Estate category. Click on All Categories and you will get the (long) list of Twellow categories. As you scroll, you will see to the left of each category a green “+ Add me!” button. Click on that and you will be added to that category! Clicking on the category name brings you to the list of everyone in that category, and now you should be there too!

To utilize Twellow’s search features, you can start by typing in the names of some friends. You will get a list of everyone on Twellow with that name or a similar name. If you find someone you know, simply click “Follow” and your Twitter account will be updated to follow them. Now try searching for some other names, businesses or organizations you would like to follow.

Twellow also has Twellowhood. This brings up an interactive map of North America, click on the appropriate country and state and then click on your location on the list. You will find everyone registered to Twellow that indicated they were in that city. You may need to go through several towns to find people in your entire area.

The more people you click on to follow, the more people will begin to follow you back and the more results you will see from your Twitter marketing efforts.
