Upcoming Grant Writing Workshop hosted by the East Central Regional Arts Council!

I found this very interesting, and I will be attending the workshop. Any other artists should do the same!

The Minnesota State Arts Board (MSAB) and the East Central Regional Arts Council (ECAC) are inviting local artists to an informational session on Tuesday, August 7, from 2 to 4 pm at the East Central Arts Council offices at 100 Park Street South, Mora, MN. MSAB Individual Artist grants that will be featured are the Cultural Community Partnership (grant range: $1,000 - $5,000) and the MSAB Artist Initiative (grant range: $2,000 - $6,000).

The following topics will be covered:

· Grant review process: Who are the panelists? What is the review process like? How does the panel make decisions? How can you become a panelist?

· Articulating impact: These programs seek to fund projects that will have the most impact on the applicant. This workshop will help applicants understand what that means and what the panelists will look for. Participants will gain practical help in writing an artist plan that clearly demonstrates how the project will impact the artist.

· Q & A: Ask a program officer your specific questions about work samples, funding restrictions, eligibility, etc.

· Individual consultations: Anyone may request a 15-minute one-on-one appointment with an Arts Board program officer directly following the workshop by contacting the Arts Board in advance. Applicants of either program are encouraged to mail or e-mail their draft of the two-page artist plan to the program officer in advance, in order to receive detailed feedback at the workshop.

· Read successful applications from previous years.

Attendees will learn about the Arts Board's grant review process, and will get advice on how to prepare a strong grant application. You can also sign up for a one-on-one appointment with an Arts Board program officer to discuss your work and your particular project.

Attendance is free, but we strongly recommend pre registration.
